I’m Running Istanbul

We participated as the Tebessüm Movement in the Istanbul’u Koşuyorum (Istanbul I’m Running) Üsküdar Stage organized by Spor Istanbul.

Not only did we run, but we also cheered for the participants after us. Additionally, we promoted the Tebessüm Movement with the banners we prepared.

We experienced the spirit of Ramadan by sharing our tables with families living in Ümraniye.

We knocked on our neighbors’ doors with meals we prepared together with our participants, and on some days, with just our desserts.

We experienced the joy of iftar together in a crowd and also played games with the children.
As the Media and Publicity Gang, we had delightful hours at our association’s iftar, which we organized to bond with new members joining our gang and with guests from outside. As the call to prayer approached, we shared the hustle and bustle of setting up the table with our guests and engaged in deep conversations. After iftar, we performed our prayers, drank tea, played games, and captured photos to immortalize that beautiful night. Here are a few snapshots from that wonderful evening:

We carried out the project proposal writing workshop led by Furkan Açıkgöz from the International Student Associations Federation.

We visited the Istanbul Archaeology Museum with a guide during the Step by Step Archaeology event.

Throughout the trip, we familiarized ourselves with ancient artifacts and embarked on a brief journey through history. Our participants learned that archaeological artifacts carry important information for passing down experiences to future generations.

It was a great event for our gang, which loves continuous learning

To raise awareness about environmental cleanliness and plastic usage, we launched the Plastic Man event. The event, attended by 25 people, began with breakfast and ice-breaking games at the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Rahmi Demir City Forest. Later, we moved to the Cekmekoy Forest where we collected litter left behind by visitors.

After completely filling our garbage bags, we gathered in a circle with participants and discussed the harm caused by plastics to the environment.

We have carried out our association’s first environmental event and gained new members for our gangs.

We started organizing face-to-face Turkish Speaking Club events in response to the request from our newly joined friends of foreign nationality, and for participants who wish to improve their Turkish speaking skills like them.

Every two weeks at the club, we discussed everyday topics chosen with games. Our friends who had just started learning Turkish learned new dialogues at each session

As Tebessum Movement, we witnessed our high school gang members going through the process of organizing a new event. Our larger gang also took steps to appeal to different audiences, thus increasing diversity among our members.

We established the Poetry Club to unite enthusiasts of poetry and to acquaint them with both local and international poets through literary excursions.

It was a wonderful volunteering experience for our new friends who joined us.

We initiated the Poetry Club to bring poetry lovers together and to introduce them to local and foreign poets through literary trips.
